What a week we had at Applewood!
To celebrate Halloween, our participants and staff jumped headfirst into a week full of cozy autumn traditions, creative projects, and festive fun. Here is a look back at everything we got up to during our celebratory week!
Monday: Cozy Warm-Up & Fall Walk
We kicked off the week on a sweet note! Participants enjoyed warm cups of hot chocolate and set off for a crisp fall walk together. Some of our group enjoyed their drinks near the courtyard and picnic tables, sipping their hot drinks and enjoying the beautiful autumn weather right by our building. We are so lucky to have access to this space
Tuesday: Fresh & Hearty Soup Day
Tuesday was all about showing off our culinary skills! Our participants worked hard all morning peeling, chopping, and prepping to make homemade butternut squash soup from scratch. By the afternoon, the wonderful aroma filled the lunchroom, and everyone gathered to enjoy a warm bowl paired with fresh baguettes and crackers.
Wednesday: Halloween Games & Thrills
The Halloween spirit was in full swing on Wednesday! The morning was packed with a variety of Halloween-themed games that had everyone laughing, competing, and getting into character. From festive challenges to spooky tricks and treats, it was an absolute blast for all who joined in on the fun.
Thursday: Pumpkin Carving & Decorating
On Thursday, it was time to let our crafty talents shine with our pumpkin decorating activity! Each group received a pumpkin and got to work carving and decorating. From bright paints to colourful construction paper and mixed media, every group brought a totally unique vision to life. The final results were spooky and creative!
Friday: Costumes, Fashion Show & Halloween Treats
We wrapped up our Halloween week in style! Everyone arrived dressed in their finest, most creative Halloween costumes for our big costume fashion show. Afterward, we headed to the lunchroom for some well-deserved Halloween treats.
To make sure everyone felt included in the celebration, every single participant — whether they attend on Fridays or another day of the week — received a special Halloween treat bag! Is there any better way to kick off a Monday morning than opening up your locker to find a bag full of Halloween goodies waiting for you?
We hope everyone had an exciting, safe Halloween. Until next year! 🎃
