Thanksgiving Celebration

On Thursday, October 8, we came together to celebrate Thanksgiving with a day full of games, delicious food, and gratitude!

Our morning kicked off with a variety of Thanksgiving-themed activities. Participants put their skills to the test during our Pumpkin Sweep, using hockey sticks to race pumpkins from one end of the room to the other. We also enjoyed a round of Thanksgiving Jeopardy, morning stretches to get moving, and Thanksgiving-themed BINGO. There was plenty of fun and excitement to start the day!

After spending some time in the gym, our staff worked behind the scenes to prepare for the highlight of the celebration: our Thanksgiving feast!

We gathered together to enjoy a delicious spread of seasonal treats and comfort foods, including apple crumble and pumpkin pie, mac and cheese, stuffing, maple cookies, chips, and caramel popcorn. The highlight was our homemade apple cider! With so many tasty options to choose from, there was something for everyone to enjoy.

Beyond the food and festivities, Thanksgiving gave us a special opportunity to reflect on what we are grateful for. Our participants shared what they appreciate most in their lives, with family, friends, and food among the things mentioned. It was a wonderful reminder that some of the most meaningful things in life are the people we share it with and the moments we create together.

As our celebration came to an end, everyone pitched in to clean up the room and get everything ready for the next day. Working together was a lovely way to wrap up a day centred on community, connection, and appreciation.

From friendly competition to a shared feast, our Thanksgiving celebration was a wonderful reminder of how much there is to be thankful for at Applewood Centre. We are grateful for our participants, families, and staff who make our community such a special place to be.

Happy Thanksgiving from everyone at Applewood Centre for Adult Learning! ๐Ÿ‚๐Ÿงก
